CRP Wins ‘Best Temporary Display of the Year’ in UK POPAI Awards 2009
CRP Print & Packaging, one of Europe’s leading independent print and packaging groups, are delighted to have won 3 awards at the prestigious POPAI ceremony, including gold, for best temporary display of the year for their Walkers 'Do Us A Flavour' Impulse Hopper Display. The winning entry was received following the display also winning gold for best ‘temporary display in the Grocery and General Merchandise & Snack Products category along with an Innovation Award.
This great achievement follows the company’s success earlier this year at the European POPAI Awards, where they won a gold award for their Pringles Rice Infusion Display.
The hanging display utilises one structural design which enables the unit to be placed in a number of impulse sittings including; chillier cabinet sides with suction cups, gondola ends and tensile barriers with cable ties, as well as floor placements with single or double sided options.
The hopper was designed for a range of retail environments from garage forecourts to retailers such as Boots and Superdrug. In each retailer environment two units were placed to cover the range of 6 new flavours. Each hopper contained 24 bags of crisps (the same number as the current SRP quantity). Each display was sent direct to store in a flat packed format and were erected and placed by store staff.
Matt Goddard, Category Brand Manager – Impulse at Walkers said, “The Do Us A Flavour” hopper was a great example of creating a unit to generate new space in store. The flexibility of the unit in the way that it could be fixed to units in store through ties and suckers meant that there was always an appropriate solution for every store. The result of this unit was that we were able to execute a marketing event and launch incremental NPD in a customer we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.”
“Our ability to create temporary displays that increase sales and influence consumers at the Point of Purchase is vital to our success”. Says Mike Devine CRP’s Display Sales Manager. “Working with many of Europe’s largest brand owners we have a unique insight into designing POP units that influence consumer purchasing behaviour and CRP winning the best temporary display of the year demonstrates that understanding.”
CRP’s Creative and Innovations Team Win Starpack Award for Revolutionary and ‘Fashionable’ Liquid Packaging
CRP Print and Packaging, one of Europe’s largest independent print and packaging groups, has changed the rules of liquid packaging in developing “this season’s hot accessory”. CRP worked closely with Gallo Family Vineyards to launch a limited edition handbag style wine box for their White Grenach variety and this ground breaking packaging won a bronze award in the Best Drinks Design Category at the 2009 Starpack awards.
Not only is the “clutch bag” packaging an ideal gift to give to party hosts, but it also holds the equivalent of two bottles of wine and can be easily stored in the fridge. The clever design also allows the user to carry and dispensing of wine with one hand. The pack is tamper proof, produced from a single piece of corrugated and is 3 point glued on a high speed line. In addition, there is a series of complex folds that make assembly for the wine filler very easy.
This revolutionary design has assisted in a shift in consumers’ perception of buying boxed wine, and succeeded in making wine packaging more feminine and desirable compared to others currently available. Dev Brahmachari, Sales and Marketing Director at CRP says, “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to demonstrate how CRP can push the boundaries of traditional packaging to create a pack which is original in design, functional and made from sustainable resource whilst reinforcing a brand’s values to its consumers.”
CRP's Customers Benefit from further investment in BobstDie Cutting June 09
CRP Print & Packaging, one of Europe's largest and well invested independent print and packaging groups, has installed a Bobst SPO-160-VISION-PR into its Litho packaging business. The investment highlights the company's continued market success, and plans for growth, within the shelf ready and decorative packaging markets.
The new Bobst die cutter is fitted with a unique camera system to register print, this allows for the litho sheet to be adjusted and alignment of each sheet is corrected prior to the die cutting process. A turnkey Bobst operation since its start up in 1999 CRP's litho business is now the UK's third largest manufacturer. The installation of increased die cutting capacity was supported by the continued growth in sales the company has enjoyed over the last three years.
"Our customers and potential customers are looking for other supply options outside of the major print and packaging groups for litho packaging" comments Dev Brahmachari Sales & Marketing Director at CRP. Our focus is on our customers. We understand that each of our customers have very different requirements. We make every effort to understand their markets and then shape a unique service offer to meet their requirments. The new Bobst will allow our customer to benefit from increased productivity, flexibility and capacity.
